Our software

Md2PDF converts your files on your computer.

Md2PDF reads your Markdown and writes your PDF, EPUB, DOCX, or HTML entirely on the machine it’s installed on. It also reads the local images your Markdown points to, so it can embed them; it never fetches an image from the internet. Your documents are never uploaded, transmitted, or seen by us. We have no server that could receive them, and no account system that could identify you.

This isn’t a promise resting on good intentions. It’s built into the app, and tested:

The conversion engine makes no network calls at all: not for fonts, not for stylesheets, not for images, not for telemetry, not for update checks. An automated test converts a document while watching for outbound connections, and fails if it sees one.
The app package declares no network capability. Windows doesn’t enforce that for a desktop app, which can open a connection whether or not it declares one, so the guarantee lives in the code and the test above, not in the package.
The files you produce don’t phone home either. The app inlines the styles, embeds the images, removes any markup that could load something remote, and writes into each HTML file a policy that tells a browser to load nothing external.
The one exception is the Microsoft Store licensing check, which confirms whether you hold a paid licence. It goes to Microsoft, not to us, and it tells us nothing. Buying Pro uses your Microsoft account through the Store; we never see that account. If you’re offline, Pro keeps working for 14 days on a saved copy of the last confirmed licence, and after that the app runs in its free mode until it can check again.

We collect no usage analytics and no document contents, and we run no telemetry of our own. If the app crashes, Windows Error Reporting may send a crash report to Microsoft under the diagnostic settings you chose for Windows; the app doesn’t block that. Microsoft then shows us how many crashes occurred, never what you were converting. If you want us to see a file, you have to send it to us yourself.

What the app keeps, and how to remove it.

Md2PDF keeps a few small files in your Windows profile: for the Store version, inside the app’s own package folder under AppData\Local\Packages; otherwise under AppData\Local\Md2Pdf, and none of them roams to another machine.

A conversion log, kept for 14 days. It records what happened and when: file counts, sizes, timings, which PDF engine ran, and the type of any error. It does not record document text, titles, file paths, or your name.
Crash files, one per crash, at most 20 kept. Each holds the technical error, which can include a file path or a document title. The error dialog names the file, so you can read it before deciding whether to send it to us.
Your settings: the formats and options you last chose.
The saved licence: the last confirmed Pro licence and its expiry, which is what lets Pro work offline for up to 14 days.

Delete any of them whenever you like; the app recreates what it needs. Uninstalling removes the app, and Windows may leave the data folder behind, which you can delete by hand.

When you submit a request at llanodataworks.com/support, we store what you filled in:

Your first and last name and email address, so we can reply.
The product, its version if you give it, and the kind of issue.
Your description of the problem — whatever you choose to write.

Alongside that we record the date and time, your IP address, and your browser’s user-agent string. Those three are kept for one reason: to detect and block abuse of a form that is open to the public internet. They aren’t used to profile or track you, and they’re not shared.

There are no cookies on this website, no analytics, no advertising trackers, and no third-party scripts. The only resource this site loads from another company is the typeface, served by Google Fonts, which means Google receives the request for the font file.

Where it goes

Two places, both in the United States.

Microsoft Azure — the support record is written to an Azure SQL database hosted in the United States, encrypted in transit and at rest. This site is hosted on Azure too.
Twilio SendGrid — delivers the notification email that tells us your request came in. Your submission passes through their service to reach our inbox.

That’s the complete list. We do not sell your information, rent it, trade it, or share it for advertising — not with anyone, at any price. We’d disclose it only if the law required us to.

Your say

Ask and it’s gone.

We keep a support record as long as it’s useful — to finish helping you, and to recognise the problem if it comes back. There’s no business reason for us to hold it beyond that.

You can ask us at any time to tell you what we hold about you, correct it, or delete it. Send the request through the support form and choose Other as the issue type. We’ll act on it — no conditions, no retention argument.

Our products and this site aren’t directed at children under 13, and we don’t knowingly collect their information.
